Venture-as-a-Service: Why Brenda Schmidt is Joining the Coplex Team

Brenda Schmidt

CEO at Coplex

I am excited to announce my latest role as the President of Coplex, where I will be leading the organization’s expansion strategy by partnering with corporations to transform their best innovation ideas into a portfolio of rapid-growth technology companies. In this role, I can fulfill two of my closest passions: healthcare transformation and creating thriving communities through entrepreneurship.

Coming from healthcare, I know that this is just one industry ripe for innovation. Existing legacy systems and processes can be radically improved with digital business models that result in lower costs, improved patient experiences, and better care. Unfortunately, many large organizations—and not just in healthcare—implement internal innovation teams or divisions only to find the processes that sustain them as market leaders make truly disruptive innovation nearly impossible.

There’s a reason startups have been the biggest disruptors over the last decade: Startups don’t have to worry about legacy systems, complex internal controls, or quarterly profit goals. This is indeed a competitive advantage startups have over their more established counterparts—they innovate faster.

It takes a proven venture builder methodology and experienced team to help large corporations innovate faster, reduce their risk, and use capital efficiently.

None of this means large, established organizations can’t become disruptive innovators. In fact, at Coplex we believe that many are well-positioned to lead the disruption and define the future of their respective industries.

Enter Venture-as-a-Service

Ideas get stuck in the red tape of corporate bureaucracy, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to set those ideas free. It takes a proven Venture Builder methodology and experienced team to help large corporations innovate faster, reduce their risk, and use capital efficiently.

And this is exactly why I’m joining the Coplex team: to introduce a new corporate innovation venture building model—Venture-as-a-Service—to quickly turn innovation ideas into revenue-generating companies. As a serial entrepreneur, I am passionate about building scalable solutions for big industry problems and unlocking the value of untapped market needs. I’m excited to be on a team pioneering the next wave of innovations in the healthcare space, and beyond.
